ABOUT THE ART AND THE PRINT
|
The original artwork was drawn in 1988 in pen and ink on illustration board by Ohio artist John Andrews. Taking over 100 hours to complete, the final rendition came after multiple sketches, conceptualizations, and rough drafts were drawn, considered, and rejected. Finding the best vantage point from which to illustrate the OSU Stadium became a monumental challenge, and during which, the entire project was nearly abandoned. Incredibly by chance, during a conversation with a Alan Feinstein, a prominent Springfield, Ohio business man, I had the opportunity to view what turned out to be the best seat in the house to see "the shoe". Alan's son, Mark, now a leading attorney in Springfield, Ohio was at the time living in one of the towers at OSU. It was from the small window in this dormitory room that I was able to view the stadium from exactly the angle which I had pictured in my mind's eye. Numerous photographs were taken, light studies were made. Copious notes were taken describing things too small to show up in the photographs. The concept became reality. The original artwork has been faithfully reproduced as limited edition lithographic prints each inspected and individually signed and numbered by the artist. The prints measure 14 inches by 28 inches and are on the finest acid free museum grade archival 100% rag vellum. A strict production of only 5,000 limited edition prints, plus 50 signed artist proofs has been produced , and are only available until this quantity has been sold. Once this quantity has been sold, they will not be available in any form.
